Act! Speak! Build! Week

Act! Speak! Build! Week

April 1-7, 2012

Kids speaking out against poverty

  • Act! Speak! Build! Week is a student-initiated week of advocacy on behalf of Habitat for Humanity and housing issues.
  • It empowers young people to educate themselves and their communities and move people to social action.
  • Young people ages 5 to 25 work in partnership with local affiliates to plan and host events focused on ending poverty housing.
  • You can organize an Act! Speak! Build! Week any time during the year.
  • Many groups choose to organize their week around World Habitat Day, the first Monday in October.

Kids 5-8 can get involved in Act! Speak! Build Week

  • Create messages to share with their communities.
  • Decorate a classroom bulletin board.
  • Write letters to their governor, house representative, senators and local newspaper editors.
