Prison Partnership volunteer program -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
Prison Partnership volunteer program
Building houses, healing communities
Habitat’s Prison Partnership facilitates a cooperative effort between local Habitat for Humanity affiliates and correctional institutions. Through the program, an offender―or incarcerated person―has the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat affiliates in various aspects of house construction.
Benefits for homeowners, offenders and the community
Habitat homeowners benefit from the Prison Partnership program as houses are completed more quickly with the help of eager, competent and cooperative volunteers. Offenders benefit as they work with others toward positive goals while learning marketable job skills and practicing social responsibility. Finally, the community benefits from investing in and developing a large future workforce.
