Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build is not about excluding men; it’s about including women. While women make up 50 percent of Habitat’s volunteer force, they are often a minority on the construction site. When women crews take the lead, Habitat increases its capacity to build more homes and to eliminate poverty housing.

The Women Build program of Habitat for Humanity works to recruit, train and nurture women volunteers to build houses. Women Build offers a comfortable, welcoming work site where women quickly learn construction skills and take the lead in building new Habitat houses.

The first all-women build took place in 1991 in Charlotte, N.C. Since then, Habitat for Humanity Women Build crews have built more than 1,000 houses in 14 countries around the world. Habitat’s Women Build program empowers women to join together across all boundaries to make a difference in their communities.
