Malaysia -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
TROPICAL, RESOURCE-RICH Malaysia is a nation of two distinct geographic regions. Peninsular Malaysia boasts large cities, and an active agricultural, industrial and service economy. Across the South China Sea lies East Malaysia. East Malaysia, a land of forests and plantations spread along much of the northern coast of the giant island of Borneo.
HFH Malaysia has a growing, active and multi-faceted volunteer program. Student, youth and religious groups build with Habitat in Malaysia. International schools support Habitat’s work both in Malaysia and overseas. The International School Kuala Lumpur has sent teams of students to build in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching for the past five years. Garden International School is in its third year of supporting Habitat builds in Peninsular Malaysia. HFH Malaysia also plays host to nearly a dozen international volunteer teams each year. In 2010, more than 150 international volunteers worked on build sites across the country alongside Habitat families.
