20 Years of Habitat World
This year, Habitat World celebrates 20 years as Habitat for Humanity International's flagship print publication. Like the 27-year-old organization, the magazine has evolved through the years. It has changed in appearance, grown in numbers printed, matured through the eyes and leadership of a half-dozen editors. One quality, however, remains constant: Habitat World still seeks to inform readers about Habitat for Humanity, to expose the issues surrounding poverty housing and to draw more partners into Habitat's mission of building simple, decent, affordable shelter. During this milestone year, we thought it fitting to revisit some of the stories that have appeared in the pages over the years. We sifted through our archive of back issues and chose the following stories not only as reminders of where Habitat has been, but also as hints of where it is going. Two decades have passed since Habitat World began. As Habitat continually reinforces its drive to build more houses, however, its vision remains clear ... and its mission keeps no clock.
