GA, Brunswick – Executive Director

Habitat for Humanity of Glynn County, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is recruiting for a full-time position of executive director.

Habitat for Humanity of Glynn County is a nonprofit organization located in Brunswick, Georgia, the gateway to the Golden Isles. Situated along the coast of Georgia halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida, Habitat for Humanity of Glynn County will soon dedicate its 62nd home in Glynn County and continues to live its mission of eliminating and/or replacing substandard housing with safe, decent and affordable homes. A successful HomeStore opened its doors in July 2006 and continues to grow in both donations and community support.

The executive director reports to a 19-member board of directors. The essential functions are to:

    • Be responsible for the operational and financial execution of board policy and management of daily operations. Support the board and its sub-committees in overseeing various functions of the organization. Reporting to the executive director are a HomeStore manager, part-time construction manager and an administrative assistant.

    • Provide leadership for public relations and fund-raising activities. Seek out and apply for grants as well as explore funding sources within the community. Work with the financial development committee to develop a strategy and assist in its implementation.

    • Communicate an energizing vision for Habitat/Glynn County and seek to motivate staff and volunteers. Be proactive in expanding an already strong volunteer base.

    • Act as primary spokesperson for the affiliate. Handle public and media relations as well as speaking engagements to religious, civic and corporate audiences.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ managerial experience in financial and administrative management. Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.

    • Demonstrated skills in fund raising and/or grant writing.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with the board of directors, staff, volunteers, homeowners and the community.

    • A strong commitment to the needs of low-income families and prospective Habitat homeowners.

    • Proficient in standard computer software in an office environment,

    • Knowledge of construction requirements helpful.

Position:

This is a full-time exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
