DC, Washington – President/CEO

Background
Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. was incorporated in 1990 in The District of Columbia as a nonprofit organization. HFH WDC is committed to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness in the nation’s capital by building affordable, energy and resource efficient homes for people in need. Since 1990, we have built 127 houses and housed approximately 500 people. HFH WDC builds and sells homes to families who do not qualify for conventional financing. Each family must partner with HFH WDC by completing our homeowner qualifications, which include sweat equity prior to purchasing a Habitat home. Each year, we recruit thousands of volunteers and sponsors from schools, corporations and faith-based institutions to build new homes for low-income families who work along with staff and volunteers.

HFH WDC’s budget for 2012 is approximately $3.5 million with a staff of 11. The affiliate completed eight houses in fiscal year 2011 with the help of more than 5,700 volunteers who worked on our building projects.

HFH WDC is affiliated with, but is not controlled by, Habitat for Humanity International (the international affiliate), which is headquartered in Americus, Ga. The international affiliate is a resource center for local affiliates, including HFH WDC.
