Overview
Habitat for Humanity of Hale County Inc. is a nonprofit organization located on Main Street in Greensboro, Alabama. The organization is seeking a full-time, self-motivated individual to manage Habitat for Humanity Hale County in the building of homes for hardworking families in Alabama's Black Belt region.
Responsibilities
- Develop five-year strategic plan.
- Develop budget.
- Locate funding sources.
- Determine regular and blitz home build schedule.
- Provide general oversight of budget and affiliate financial matters assist the finance committee in annual budget development and advise the board and finance committee about budget issues and future needs.
- Develop, implement and maintain a variety of strategies to raise funds for Habitat builds through donations, grant writing and special event fundraising.
- Work collaboratively with the board by attending all board meetings, providing monthly board meeting agendas in consultation with the president and executive committee, and orienting new board members.
- Manage family selection process along with family selection committee and board.
- Act as spokesperson for Habitat to interested religious, business, civic and volunteer organizations and foundations or other charitable organizations.
- Assist church relations committee with expanding and nurturing relationships with covenant churches.
- Work with Auburn University’s DESIGNhabitat and other green building programs to develop new, industry-leading Habitat house designs.
- Recruit volunteers to expand volunteer database and community involvement.
- Coordinate volunteer recognition activities --annual event, monthly thank you post cards, special nametags, etc.
- Ensure all on-site volunteers register, fill out appropriate forms and receive a site orientation.
- Manage and respond to all phone and email volunteer inquiries and update volunteer database.
- Assist site supervisor in leading crews of volunteers in building activities.
- Edit and oversee production of quarterly affiliate newsletter.
- Assist public relations committee in developing contacts with local media people including newspapers, radio or television stations and the affiliate’s Web page.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Passion to serve a low-income demographic.
- Desire to advocate the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Detail orientated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Grant writing experience is desirable, but not required.
