Habitat volunteers make the difference!
Around the world, Habitat for Humanity volunteers are fundraisers and advocates for our mission. Volunteers spend thousands of hours each year on construction sites and in local Habitat for Humanity offices helping us put an end to poverty housing.

Habitat Heroes are those truly outstanding volunteers who go above and beyond to help our partner families realize the dream of home ownership.

Nominate a 2010 Habitat Hero
Do you know a Habitat for Humanity volunteer who deserves special recognition? Come back on May 1st to nominate your Habitat Hero.

Nominations will be accepted from May 1-31, 2010. Submissions will be judged by Habitat for Humanity from among all eligible nominations received. The Habitat Heroes contest judges will narrow the nominees down to five finalists. The next round of judging will be done by an online vote.

Come back and vote for your favorite Habitat Hero
From July 19-30, 2010, you will have the chance to vote in an online poll for the finalist whose story best exemplifies a Habitat Hero. The nominee who collects the most votes will be named the grand prize winner. Be sure and return to vote for your favorite finalist!

One grand prize winner and four finalists
From the outstanding volunteers nominated for the 2010 Habitat Heroes Contest, one Habitat Hero and four additional finalists will be selected and recognized.

The Habitat Heroes grand prize winner will receive a full scholarship and airfare for a future Global Village volunteer trip. Additionally, a $5,000 donation will be given to the local Habitat for Humanity of their choosing.

Four finalists will each receive a partial scholarship for a future Global Village volunteer trip. A $1,500 donation will be given to a local Habitat for Humanity of each finalist’s choice.

The 2010 Habitat Hero and top four finalists will be announced on August 9, 2010.
