Richard Quest, who hosts an hour-long feature program on CNN called “Quest” featured Habitat in an episode on architects and architecture from around the world.
“It is a very rewarding experience for me to see the faces of these people, their joy, to know that I have made a contribution to their lives,” Quest told local journalists there. “It is the first time I have ever done such a thing for a humanitarian organization. I chose to help Habitat for Humanity because I loved what they were doing.”
As a practical part of his exploration, Quest spent a day as a Habitat volunteer, working alongside a partner family, Habitat staff and fellow volunteers. At the end of the day, Quest celebrated the accomplishment by buying a tree for the family whose home he helped build and planted it outside their new home.
In addition to highlighting Habitat for Humanity Romania’s work to CNN’s worldwide audience, Richard Quest’s visit drew a number of local media to the build site. Quest took the opportunity to give an impromptu press conference in which he lauded the good work of Habitat for Humanity. The local media attention brought additional attention to the Habitat program in Romania.
Richard Quest is a senior anchor with CNN International covering breaking news and business stories as well as feature programming. His regular programs include “CNN Business Traveler as well as “Quest.”
