If you possess the skills below, you may be a great candidate for Disaster Corps:
- A positive attitude!
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexible worldview, emotional maturity, and physical stamina.
- Able to manage stress under high pressure.
- Proactive work ethic.
- A wide range of skills and interests.
- Can be deployed on short notice.
- Able to work effectively in unstable and resource-poor environments.
- Culturally sensitive with the ability and interest to work with a multicultural team.
- High tolerance for ambiguity and constantly changing requirements.
- Willingness to perform hands-on tasks.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills.
- Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Leadership skills and ability to promote a team-building environment.
- Experience with computers, fax and standard office equipment (HF, VHF and satellite radio experience a plus).
- Flexible, adaptable and able to listen to the affiliate’s needs before offering suggestions. (Assignments commonly change quickly based on the constantly-changing environment after a disaster.)
