Mission accomplished... -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 8, 2006Mission accomplished...
As I look around the house at this stage, I am able to see how much “little stuff” has to be done. We no longer are focusing on placing the major components in the home; it is time to place our personal touch on it. Drywall point-up, paint touch-up, deep clean and re-clean.
Our homeowner, Mr. Hatim Elzubair, asked our customer orientation representative to install a peephole on the front door. As I walked up to see how it was progressing I noticed two of our builders looking at his work. As it turns out the builders were using this opportunity to inspect and critique the work of the man that inspects their homes daily. It has been this way all week with warranty, production, sales and operation personnel working side by side. Spirits have been high and attitudes positive. It has been a pleasure not only to provide this beautiful home for this wonderful family, but also to see the effort of the subcontractors, suppliers and our own employees. Everyone worked on tight schedules, in tight quarters, without hesitation or complaint. I tip my hat to everyone that has been involved.
Around 10, we received our final certificate of occupancy, so we declared this “mission accomplished.” We look forward to the dedication tomorrow (Friday) evening. We have a special surprise in store for the Elzubairs. Drees Homes has decided to provide a swing set and play area for their 1-year-old son, Hassan, and we will present this to them at the dedication.
