COLORADO SPRINGS – Some quick thoughts from a busy Wednesday...
Today, I was able to visit the Home Builders Blitz site in Colorado Springs. I think every build site in "The Springs" must have a view of Pike's Peak ... it is such a majestic range. I was able to travel today with Karen Kallenberg, a former colleague on the national HBB staff, now with Habitat Colorado. I met some very excited and proud builders from Capital Pacific Homes and saw the beautiful two-story home, with a view, that they expect to complete a day early thanks to extraordinary cooperation from their subcontractors. Nice work guys!
Had a text message today from Kerry Thomson, Habitat executive director in Bloomington, Indiana, that said, "Five houses, six thunderstorms, two tornadoes, still on schedule and having fun."
And then a phone call came from our San Diego affiliate. There was some static on the line, but it went something like, "Bill from Viking Construction … wants everyone to know that they are the STATIC STATIC builders in the entire project.” Best? Fastest? Most satisfied? Best looking?
Off to Omaha on Thursday to see the four homes they have been working on all week. I'm looking forward to my first trip to Nebraska.
