Tom Gipson - North Carolina
Tom Gipson is a custom home builder from Raleigh, N.C., and currently serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders. In the late 1980s Tom became involved with Habitat through his church. In 2002 he organized and led a group of professional builders to construct 12 houses in one week in Raleigh, and in 2003 he carried out a similar build — this time completing 24 homes. The following year Tom approached the leadership of Habitat for Humanity International about making Home Builders Blitz a national event. Thanks to Tom’s vision and leadership, some 1,000 professional builders are working with affiliates across the United States to build over 400 houses this week.
