Global Village volunteer program
Experience another culture while making a difference in the lives of others
Habitat for Humanity Global Village volunteer teams travel to exciting destinations in the United States and around the world. They advocate for better living conditions and raise funds to help those in need.
Who can participate:
- All who want to make a difference by picking up a hammer and helping to change lives.
- There is no maximum age limit.
- Many of the trips require strenuous manual labor, so all participants should be in good health.
As a Global Village volunteer, you will:
- Work alongside members of the host community to build decent, affordable houses.
- Fundraise to build Habitat homes in the country you visit and support the Global Village program.
- Advocate for improved housing and quality of life around the world.
- Create a true global village of love, community, homes and hope.
You may work on:
- House construction.
- Renovations.
- Disaster relief.
You can expect to gain:

Featured Global Village trips
- Matale, Sri-Lanka (July 20 – Aug. 4, 2012)
You are invited to experience the beauty of Sri Lanka, a land like no other, while helping build or improve houses and infrastructure with Habitat for Humanity. On this Habitat for Humanity trip, we will be staying in the central Sri Lankan town of Matale, and traveling to nearby areas to work with local Sri Lankan families.
- Jhapa, Nepal (Sep 21 - Oct 6, 2012)
Looking for an adventure of a lifetime? Consider building houses with Habitat for Humanity in partnership with God’s people in need in Jhapa, Nepal.
- Helena, Montana (June 10-17)
Nestled against the eastern front of the Rocky Mountains, near the scenic Missouri River, Helena is a historic town with an Old West culture and unparalleled natural beauty. This year is the 20th Anniversary for Helena Area Habitat. The Global Village crew will part of the weeklong 20th anniversary celebration.
- Beius, Romania (July 1-12)
We are looking for adventurous people to join us on this exciting and challenging mission to help build homes for people in need of decent housing. During this trip, you'll be immersed in the rich culture and hospitality of Romania while doing hands-on building alongside future homebuyers in Beius/Ordea.
- Barskoon, Kyrgyzstan (August 11-25)
Join us for an exciting build on the beautiful shore of Lake Issyk Kul, along the ancient Silk Road. This is an excellent opportunity to work with friendly people and learn about their unique and colorful culture.
- Brazil (Aug. 24-Sept. 2)
With a rich Afro-European and Amerindian culture and stunning South Atlantic Ocean coastline, the South American country of Brazil is simply enchanting. Join us as we do our part to eliminate substandard housing by lending helping and hardworking hands while gaining friendship, adventure and a sense of belonging to the global community.

- Mzuzu, Malawi (July 13-22)
